How to create a disk image

$

I'm getting help from folks on bleepingcomputer.com, and they've suggested I create a disk image using AOMEI (free) before I proceed further in trying to fix my husband's old XP laptop which contains much software that is precious to him and unobtainable except on this one computer.

I'm typing this message on my own (Windows 7) laptop.

I tried to download AOMEI Backupper Standard Edition on his computer, first using Local Download, which didn't seem to work, and then using "Download from CNET" which I think did work.  I believe I probably installed the software - not sure - but then I ended up on what seems to be a completely different website, that seems to have done a malware scan and now wants $39.95 to fix the issues they supposedly found...?  Advance System Care?

Can anyone point me directly to what I need to do, to create a disk image of the dysfunctional computer whose special software I hope to preserve?  I'm going to X out of this Advance System Care site...

Thanks so much --

Susan

Licence Distribution (Technican Plus)

We have a Backupper Technican Plus licence.

We now want to share the software to our company PCs.

Is there a way to avoid entering the licence code on each machine?

Can we add the licene with a skript or with a setup parameter or anything else?

Thank You

System restore - C0000145 Application error

$

Hi! I wanted to do a system restore from a backup file I made before. I chose a backup file in a Backupper, partition, etc., in tne end it askd me to use WinPE boot stick. Ok, I created bootable USB stick with WinPE using your application, went through all the procedure in Backupper again. Unfortunately when booting from USB stick (I tried 2 different sticks) I ended with blue death screen saying:

STOP: C0000145 (Application Error)

The application was unable to start correctly (0x000000d)

So, I CAN NOT restore a system as AOMEI WinPE booting stick DOES NOT work and I backed it up in AOMEI format, only. Could you help me?

AOMEI Backupper Pro fails after WIndows 10 Anniversary Update

I have been using Backupper Pro for several years now, always working OK. Using the latest version.

However, after Windows 10 Anniversary Update the backup schedule does not seem to work anymore.

It doesn't matter if I schedule it through the Windows task scheduler or through Backupper's own service.

The program backups correctly for four times according to the set schedule.

After those four times the program refuses to make another backup with that schedule.

I can only do a manual backup or make a new backup schedule that then runs for only four times.

I am sure I have set the schedules and options correctly because I have exported them before doing the Anniversary Update (when everything was working OK for months) and imported them afterwards.

If I check the Windows task scheduler it says for instance that a new run is due at 6:00 PM, but when that time arrives the program doesn't start and it just skips to the next time due for a backup. The time of the last run doesn't change either, it remains the same as the time of the last successful backup. There is no error code in the Windows task scheduler either (it remains 0x0), it is as if the program just didn't run and was just skipped.

If I set the backup schedule through Backupper's own service the same thing happens. If I then reboot the program does start at login (this is the extra option when running a backup through the own service, not available through Windows task scheduler). I can see it starts because the icon appears in the tray, but then the whole computer freezes and I have to do a hard reset.

Can anyone confirm this? Most strange behavior...

AOMEI PE Builder 1.5 Add Files Problem

I am using AOMEI PE Builder version 1.5, I have a problem trying to use the add files feature, when I click it I get a file selector box which is locked to the wildcard *.ini and I cannot select any of my portable apps .exe files.

Is this intended ?, I looked at some YouTube videos of users adding files in version 1.4 and the file selector box starts with the wildcard *.* so .exe portable apps can be selected.

AOMEI Backupper Professional - File Sync doesn't work

Created a sync job to synchronise a music folder from a network drive onto my windows 10 PC. The job runs every day and always finds nearly 1500 files still to be copied, and continues to run to completion, reporting success.

Analysis and comparison shows that individual files out of folders where the remainder of the folder was copied correctly are missed and some folders are missed in totality or have a small number of files copied.

To compound the issue, when using the AOMEI backup application to look at a shared NAS folder structure, it does not provide a list in alphabetical order. Initially it seems alphabetic, but as you move down the list, it quickly becomes apparent that it isn't and the remainder of the folder list is almost random.

Continually identifying 1500 files to transfer, and not completing the task, despite reporting "success" is unforgiveable. This software cannot be trusted to provide a backup/file sync. It just doesn't do it.

Hi everyone,

First, i apology for my english, i'm terrible and i know it ...

we have some problem with laptop or desktop computer with Aomei Linux.
The linux driver did not recognize our external HDD on every USB slot.

If we boot WinPE with Dell USB Driver it work, obviously, but it seems like the linux driver is not compatible with Dell PC's, we got older PC and it work perfectly, but not on the newer.

Someone have the same problem as us ?

Thank for the help,

Dimitri.

Command Line Restore partition ?

1. For AOMEI Backupper , thanks for having command line backup options, but I can't find any command line restore for partition image !!

2. AOMEI has "Öne Key Recovery" , so I'm sure there must have a restore command line possible.

3. How can I add password to my local backup partition image under command line

4. I need to add AOMEI Backupper to my own built Win8PE, hwo can I make it. As I know Acronis have a tool named PEBuilder that can add Acronis to your own built Win8PE.iso automatically.

I cloned my internal 500 GB HD onto a 1 TB external HD but the OS wouldn't boot after the switch. Win 8.1 64 bit. Is there a reason I can't use an external HD as internal or am I missing something else?

Complete System Backup... possible?

$

Apologies in advance, but I'm finding the options and limitations of the BackUpper options confusing. I'm backing up multiple family systems to a network share drive. I've been doing this using the "Disk Backup" option as the several of the machines have multiple user partitions.

Today, I had to restore one of the (thankfully!) smaller machines to a new hard disk, but was unable to do so as the disk wasn't made bootable in the process. As I understand only the "System Backup" option will allow for this, but it won't allow me to include secondary partitions in the backup.

As I'm understanding it - and I feel I MUST be wrong - the only way to do a full system backup that's restorable to dissimilar hardware is to do multiple backups: A System Backup of the boot partition and C: and a second Disk Backup of the D: partition. This can't be correct, can it? Isn't there a way to a single, "push button" backup of the whole damn thing that can't be recovered to dissimilar hardware?

Thanks in advance for any clarification!

AOMEI Backupper - dik/partition sector by sector issue

Hello

Is it possible to make proper sector-by-sector image with AOMEI Backupper backup option? I've chosen the option but...in fact the image size of 30GB partition has 2GB and it looks like the drive free space hasn't been "imaged". I used other company drive imagers and created sector-by-sector copy for Data Recovery purposes. Is it possible in AOMEI?

File backups about 100gb short

Hey guys,

I'm giving backupper a try for my backup needs but I seem to have an issue. I am doing file backups for my media server. I have two 3TB drives. One is the content, one just for the backup. No matter what I do though the backup is always about 100gb smaller than the drive it's supposed to be backing up. It is set to sync all files and there are no exclusions in place and yet it's always smaller than the source.

I love how easy this application is to use so I hope I can get this sorted :)

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

When I try to restore it I get a 'file too large' error.  Backupper seems to thing the target drive isn;t NTFS.  It is.  I have tried restoring to two different drives, both NTFS, both with lots of free space.  Any ideas, please?
