Cannot explore image

Synopsis:  a system backup cannot be accessed from explorer

Setup:

0) Windows 10 installed on a BootCamp partition successfully created by OS X (High Sierra)

1) created a system backup using Backupper Professional

2) verified backup successful

3) Backupper Pro:Utilities:Explore Image

    a) select the system backup to explore

    b) select the backup point (in this case there was only one)

    c) map disk/partition to new drive letter (D:, F:, whatever; in this case, D:)

    d) Image preview is initialized, checked and attached to drive D: successfully

4) open explorer and select drive D:

    a) a modal dialog displays the following information:

        (1) location is not available (in the title bar)

        (2) D:\ is not accessible

        (3) Incorrect function

5) Return to Backupper Pro: Utilities:Explore Image and detach image successfully

What to do?  Windows 10 appears to be well behaved.  I have no issues booting back and forth from OS X to Windows.  OS X Disk Utility pronounces all the partitions as healthy.  And, for that matter, so does Backupper.  I am at a complete loss as to how to access this backup.  By the way, I created a new backup of a new Bootcamp partition and encountering the same problem.  I really need to get this data back so any help would be appreciated.

Which version AOMEI Backupper allows you to rename your computer automatically?

If I make a copy of one computer and want to restore it on another computer, the computer name is the same. This creates a network conflict.

System Restore - Disk to small on identical disk

$

I've got a problem with System Restore on a Surface Pro 4: before sending my
device to repair, I did a system backup with Backupper. I did a simple System Backup without any extra options.

Now I got back a new device in exchange (exact same model and specs!) but
System Restore tells me the target disk is to small!
From what I can
tell, in System Restore I need to choose a target *partition*, but the
backup also contains the boot partition - wich makes it 400MB bigger
then the target partition (C:). The "continue" button stays greyed out - no way to restore.

When I do a seperate restore on both the partitions in the backup, afterwards the device won't boot and tells me it needs repair.
I even purchased Backupper Professional, as the website says it can restore even to a smaller disk, but IT JUST WON'T DO IT.

HOW
can I simply do a System Restore when Backupper won't even count in
that there are two partition in the System backup??? This is a serious
BUG!

Please help !

When I do a full backup using "AOMEI Backupper standard" there is a message: "The above files are being used by other programs, so is unable to backup them. Please click the following button to continue.
Restart
Mode Backup: (recommended) The rogram will restart computer and enter
the restart mode (windows pe mode) to complete this backup
autamatically.
retry: after close other programs to release the occupation of the files and click retry.
skip: if you do not want to backup the above files, click skip to ignore them.
cancel: cancel this backup operation."

I check using the program "Unlocker" - files is not busy.

The problem is what can be?

Thanks.

Backupper Pro Stopped Working

Greetings Tech Support,

I have been using Backerupper Pro for about a year or so with no problems.  A few weeks ago it has stopped working completely.  I get a popup message that says:

"Information, The current edition doesn't support to create a portable version.  If you want to use a portable version of the program, please choose Technician Plus Edition"

I don't understand what this means.  I backup to Seagate USB drives and had the process automated.

What should I do?

Clone HDD will not boot

$

I am trying to use AOEMI Backupper to create a bootable hard drive by cloning a bootable hard drive.  I have an internal 40 GB IDE HDD that I want to clone to another internal 40 GB IDE HDD so that the second drive is bootable (like the first drive is).  I have the source and target hard drives connected via external enclosures to a PC running Windows 7 and Backupper Standard 4.0.6.  (This is not the PC where the source HDD is normally installed.  I am only using this other PC in order to perform the clone operation.)  In Backupper I have used the Disk Clone function in the Clone tab.

Backupper completes the clone operation successfully.  The target drive mounts in Windows and I can see all the files that were cloned from the source drive.  However, when I install the target drive in the original PC, that PC will not boot.  On screen I see a message that says "Insert a system disk and press any key" (or something like that).

On my first clone attempt, I did not choose the Sector by Sector option in the Disk Clone.  I made a second clone attempt and I did choose the Sector by Sector option.  Backupper also completed my second clone attempt successfully.  Unfortunately, the second clone attempt would not boot the original PC either.

What am I missing?  Thanks in advance.

Backupper is restoring to wrong HDD?

$

So I have one SDD (disk 0) and one SATA HDD (disk1). I made backup of SDD system partition (128GB). Now I bought a new laptop with also an SDD of 128GB. I want to retore the old system partition backup that I have to the new SDD.

So I selected the backup file and selected as target Disk 0 (new SDD in new laptop).

However when I restart the new laptop, it appears that AOMEI has restored the system backup to the wrong drive Disk 1, the SATA disk instead of the SDD. How can that be?

How can I migrate my old SDD system partition to the new SDD, so it will boot with my old WIN 10 config?

Migrate HDD to SSD through ADI-Container

$

Hello,

I recently tried to migrate my netbook HDD (~300 GB) with Windows 10 to a newer SSD (256 GB) using the free version of AOMEI Backupper.

The HDD has 3 Partitions (System-reserved ~500 MB, BOOT ~297 GB, Recovery ~500 MB). The BOOT Partition, which contains the Windows System Folder etc., is only used with 95 GB. Therefore I hoped there would be no problem with migrating to a slightly smaller SSD.

I tried this by removing the HDD from the netbook, docking it to my desktop-PC and using the 'Disk Backup' function to create a ADI-Container with my data. After that i attached the new SSD and used the restore function to write the image to it. I also checked the options 'fit all partitions to entire disk' and 'align partition to optimize for SSD'. So far it worked, I got 3 Partitions on my SSD (with slightly different sizes than before: System-reserved ~800MB).

First thing I noticed was odd, is that the System-reserved Partition was automatically mounted by my Windows 10 machine with a drive letter and filesystem NTFS.

After removing it savely from my desktop-PC I reattached the SSD to my notebook and tried to boot. Unfortunately it will not boot. I get an error 0xc000000e. I tried to fix this by using 'bootrec' from a Win10-USB-Stick but after that i only got an error 0xc0000001. I do not really want to try to fix the drive after backup, I would rather prefer a solution working out of the box.

Is there a solution to my problem? Did i do something wrong? I really appreciate your kind help, thanks in advance.

Best regards

Windows crash in ammntdrv.sys after mounting image

$

I've been trying out AOMEI Backerupper Pro 4.02 as a replacement for Acronis True Image, and everything looked fine for the first two weeks. But now when I try to Explore my largest data partition backup which has 2 incremental backups, Windows crashes in ammntdrv.sys immediately after Backerupper successfully mounts the image. Explore worked fine when there was one incremental backup. Everything is still fine when I Explore the other backups on the drive that are smaller and have only one increment. The problem backup is reported as 100% ok when I have Backerupper check it. I even tried exploring the backup file on another system with Backerupper installed, but it gets the same crash in ammntdrv.sys (one system is Win7, the other is Win10). Any ideas?

Novice question regarding migrating OS to SSD.

$

I've heard that upgrading to SSD can improve the performance of a laptop.

So I got one from ebay and came across this page when in search for instructions as to how to migrate the OS:

https://www.disk-partition.com/blog/installing-os-to-ssd-but-keeping-everything-else-on-hdd-0528/

I downloaded the software and followed the instructions up to step 5.

So I think I've now successfully copied the OS on to the SSD. At least I can see the files when I look on the SSD drive.

My question is how do I "get it to work"?

I've changed the start up settings in the BIOS to boot from USB/flash but this doesn't seem to work. When I start the computer it just boots up like normal i.e. seemingly from the C drive.

I'd be grateful if someone could please tell me how to boot from the SSD?

Best Regards

AOMEI showing as Junk Temp file?

$

Hello...

I've created AOMEI backups on my Desktop (running Win7) and laptop (running Win8.1)

For a long time, I've used 'CCleaner' & 'Advanced System Care' software to keep my systems clean and running smoothly.

However, I've noticed on my laptop only that both pieces of software are showing the following as 'Junk Temporary File':

                               C: drive > App Data > Local > Temp > AomeiDateBackUpper...

If removed, it re-appears next time round. I usually don't 'Show Hidden Files' unless I need to as above with 'App Data'.

I'm curious why this temp file only shows in Win 8.1 on my laptop, but not on Win7, each system using the same software.

So: can anyone tell me if this happens with their systems and if this is 'normal' and therefore to be ignored?

Or is something else going on in Win 8.1, but not Win7?

Perhaps others use the same software as me?
