Remove "reserved space" after ssd clone fails

I have used the clone utility twice and now have 2 reserved space partitions on my Samsung Evo 850 2Tb destination drive. I will use the drive with a fresh install instead of cloning, but how do I remove the 2 reserved spaces on the drive?

Roger.

Clone IDE Hard Drive on Windows 98

I have an old  386 PC with Windows 98SE and a Quantum Fireball EX6.4 IDE hard drive. I see that Backupper does not list Windows 98. I can attach an identical hard drive to the internal cables temporarily for cloning. I understand that I could use DOS to partition and format with the XCOPY32 command and switches, but I would prefer a clone software. Please provide a link to an archive version by AOMEI, if available. Much appreciation.

Removing Files From Source Disk Before Backing up Partition

Hi guys!

Just wondering how the Aomei backupper works if I have removed files from source partition...

Originally I do a full backup of the partition and then differential ones after that....

I have backed up a huge file with films that I no longer want to be part of the original full backup...

What happens if I remove the films file from source...does Aomei remove it from backup or do I need to do a new full backup?

System Will Not Boot after starting or restarting with Backupper Pro Installed. Win 10 Pro AU.

I am currently using Backupper Standard or Pro on several computers running Win 7 Ultimate and Win 10 Pro AU. On the machines running Win 10 Pro AOMEI Backupper was loaded and running before the machines were upgraded to Win 10 Pro AU.

Yesterday I was setting up a new Dell Precision 3620Workstation which has the following components:

               XEON E3-1270 v5 Processor

               Intel C236 Chipset

M.2 256GB PCLe NVME Class 40 Solid State Boot Drive

1TB, 3.5” SATA Data Storage Hard Drive

               16GB (2 X 8 GB) 2133MHz DDR4 Non-ECC memory

Windows 10 Pro AU (1607) The OS was installed by Dell during the build. All updates have been applied.

PROBLEM:

When installing either Backupper Pro or Standard on this Workstation it gets to a point in the install  where the “Program Compatibility Assistant” gives error messages saying that for the “AMBAKDRV.SYS, AMWRTDVR.SYS AND AMMNKDVY.SYS drivers “A Digitally Signed Certificate is Required”. If you hit “Cancel” and continue with the install both Pro and Standard will load, however when you shut down the computer and restart it or you do a restart it will not boot and you get Dell Error Message saying “Unable to locate a boot devise”.

A Dell Pro Support Technician worked on the system via Remote Control for about 4 hours yesterday and was unable to resolve the issue. He searched for and found what he believes are the Digitally SignedCertificates for the drivers listed above and attempted to install them manually but it did not solve the problem. Both the Dell Technician and I believe the problem may be related to those drivers but are not sure. The computer runs fine without Backupper Pro or Standard  installed, but will not boot when either of them is installed.

I have E-Mailed AOMEI Tech Support but they will not will not respond.

Questions:

1. Do any of you think the boot issue is related to the Digitally Signed Certificate problem or is it something else?

2. If I temporarily disable the requirement to have a signed driver as has been posted on another thread do think it will work?

3. Any other suggesstions besides waiting for AOMEI to resolve the signed driver issue?

I really like AOMEI Backupper but if this problem is not solved soon I will be forced to switch to another product like Acronis.

System backup from another drive

I have two? internal ssd's.  Originally, on both drives, a 50g partiton was created for the purpose on installing the operating system.  Windows 10 was then installed on each drive.

I want to be able to do system backups of disk 2 when I am on disk 1, and system backups of disk 1 when I am on disk 2.

When you select the Backerupper "Backup" tab, and choose "System Backup", the backup source is automatically selected.  No choice is given to do a "system" backup from another source.

Question:  If I select the "Backup" tab, choose "Partition Backup", and do a backup of all the partitions, from the other ssd, that comprise the operating system, will I essentially be creating a "system" backup, the same as if I selected "System Backup" from the Backerupper interface, that then could be used for restoration purposes on either ssd?

thanks

Screen resolution

I've been running Backupper 3.5 for a few months now and yesterday I installed a new program that required me to change my screen resolution. This made Backupper lose all of the menu options along the top. I have now tried all of the resolution options but I cannot find one that shows all of the Backupper screens.

I'm running Windows 10 Anniversary edition on a 15" HP Envy laptop. I like using Backupper but unless I can solve this I will have to remove it. My current resolution, which works for everything else on this laptop is 1280x720 with the text and apps at 100% recommended.

Any suggestions please?

Thanks.

Notification Issue

This is a great product and it's working fine for me.

Just one small point with notifications. Each time a backup is scheduled I get TWO notifications within a few minutes of each other.

The first one includes the line:

Description:User interaction required.

The second one a few minutes later includes the line:

Description:The operation has been completed successfully.

Note, I made no intervention (I'm usually away from my computer). The actual backup appears to be fine.

Can you help with this?

What format should destination drive be for win 8.1 pro GPT hard drive?

$

Hi all,

I'm new to Aomeitech software. I've been referred from Lenovo forums. I bought a 2nd hand laptop which never came with a onekey recovery system image. I tried using the Windows 8.1 Pro system backup to create one but when testing I had issue after issue. Hence why I'm here as they've recommended the use of Backupper.

I've reinstalled windows 8.1 pro on a GPT hard drive (Seagate sshd hybrid drive). I've updated windows fully, made appropriate setting changes and installed up to date drivers for all hardware. It has the following partitions:

300MB Recovery Partition, 100MB EFI System Partition, (C:) 465.25GB NTFS Boot, Page File, Crash Dump, Primary Partition

Q1) I only need to do one system image backup but before I do, can I clarify what format I need to make the destination USB flash drive (sandisk 32GB extreme USB 3.0). I've currently made it a GPT partition with the volume formatted as NTFS. Should this be OK for a successful system image created using Backupper?

Q2) I'll also use a USB flash drive for the boot disk. What format should I make this?

Thanks in advanced.

Disk-Backup for 4 Partition

Hi,

my laptop has a system-disk (SSD) with 4 partitions: System, Windows, HP_RECOVERY, HP_Tools.

If I do a disk-backup (for safety), format the SSD and install Windows 7 from scratch (to not have the whole "ballast" installed), will this disk-backup be bootable after restoring on the same hardware (in case I want restore the laptop to its original condition)?

Thanks a lot, Thiersee

Do we need to disable Secure Boot in bios when creating a system backup (win 8.1 pro x64, backupper)

Question is in the title.

I'm doing my first system backup for windows 8.1 pro x64 using Backupper. I'm wondering do I need to disable the bios setting Secure Boot before doing a system backup in order for a successful system restore? Thanks.

Backupper Windows PE bootable USB flash drive disk issues solved (worth sharing)

Hi all,

I think this maybe worth sharing as it took me a while to sort out.

I'm using win 8.1 pro x64 but suspect this will work on any version of windows.

I initially tried to create a bootable USB flash drive using the Create Bootable Disk utility that comes with Backupper (using version 3.5 as of this guide). After booting though, it didn't work. Here's what I did to get it to work:

1) Connect your flash drive to a USB 2 port (if you only have USB 3 then try as I never tested this in a USB 3 port)

2) Use this guide to convert the flash drive to a MBR (use option 2, cmd)

3) Then use this guide to create a new partition and format the volume to NTFS (again, use option 2, cmd)

4) Exit diskpart by typing "exit", then type "exit" and press enter once more to close the cmd window

5) Follow this guide to create a Windows PE Bootable (make sure to select UEFI version)

Your USB should now be bootable in a USB 3 port. If it isn't then use another device with a USB 2 port to create. Or add your USB 3 drivers to the disk as I suspect this is what happened in my case (suspect; I can't clarify this).

Increase the size of the comments box in the system restore GUI on boot media?

Hi all,

Is it possible to increase the size of the comments box in the GUI on the boot media when doing a System Restore in Backupper? I have a large description on my system backup which would be a lot easier to read for my client if this box was larger. if not, it's not a major problem.

Thanks in advance :-)

Cloned 80GB ssd to 160GB ssd. 160 is now limited to 80 in size.

First let me say Backupper is an excellent application.  It succeeded in cloning my SSD when a big name app failed.

I don't know how many specific we need to answer my question.  My OS is Windows 10.  The SSD drives are both Intel X25M.  Computer is Dell Precision 690.

I do not have the OS on a seperate drive.  I have an 80GB ssd that I cloned to a 160GB ssd.  The cloning was a success in that the 160 boots and functions fine.  However, some type of partion was installed, and Windows recognizes it has having 80GB capacity (less than 80 actually, but that's normal).

What do I need to do change this partition ?

I'm not very skilled with computers.

Can I do a system backup for a drive I didn't boot from?

$

I have two physical drives in my PC.  One of them has the Windows 10 anniversary edition installed, and the other has an older version of Windows 10 installed. It is NOT a conventional dual-boot system; it is two independent systems on two different physical drives.  I can boot from either one; I just select the one I want, using my BIOS, when I start or restart my PC.  Both drives are GPT (UEFI).

I would like to be able to back up both system partitions without rebooting.  Backupper works well for me to back up the active system, automatically selecting the Microsoft backup and EFI partitions along with the C: drive.  But if I booted with Drive 1 and I want to back up the system on Drive 2, it won't let me.

If I choose system backup, it automatically selects the system partitions on Drive 1, and it won't let me change it.  If I choose partition backup, it lets me select the boot partition on Drive 2, but it doesn't recognize that I'm backing up a system partition, so it won't let me select the Microsoft recovery and EFI partitions that should be included in the backup.  If I manually back up and restore all three partitions, the PC still won't boot from Drive 2, and the install disk can't repair it.

If I boot from Drive 2, I have the reverse problem --- the system backup for Drive 2 works automatically, but I can't make a useable backup of the system on Drive 1.

Is there any way to back up both systems without rebooting?  Thank you.

Error Code 33 - creating system image of SSD

$

I am getting a code 33, bad sector, everytime I try to system image my SSD (C drive).  I had run chkdsk with varying options and run  surface check with Partition Magic. Neither showed any problems.  I have also degfragged it.  But none of this has made a difference.

It used to work fine with the same SSD then for no discernible reason, it started failing and has never worked since.  I have updated to the latest version of AOMEI but to no avail.

I have been most impressed with AOMEI and recommended it as an alternative to W7 backup in Microsoft forums so hope there is a simple fix for this.

Anyone had this?  Anyone know a fix?
