Two Backupper problems

$

Hello,

I installed AOMEI Backupper Standard Edition (version 2.2) on my PC equipped with Windows 7 Home
Premium (64 bit) and I have two questions/problems:

1) I tried the creation of the WinPE boot CD and all seemed OK, but when I executed the boot using
the CD the System Recovery Options Menu appeared instead of the Backupper interface. I tried the
same operation on another PC with Windows 7 Professional and all went well. The two installations
have also another difference: the Home Premium PC has a system reserved partition containing
the boot files on the primary disk (and a different partition for the C: unit), whereas in the
Professional PC the boot files resides in the single (C:) partition of the primary disk. Could
    this be the problem?

2) When I execute a backup (of any type) the Windows Event Log registers some error events with id 8194,
generated by the VSS service, containing this messages:

Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Unexpected error querying for the IVssWriterCallback interface.
hr = 0x80070005, Access is denied. This is often caused by incorrect security settings in either
        the writer or requestor process.

        Operation:
          Gathering Writer Data

        Context:
          Writer Class Id: {e8132975-6f93-4464-a53e-1050253ae220}
          Writer Name: System Writer
          Writer Instance ID: {603e32d9-a90a-44e0-b138-78af58022559}.

Is this error a real problem or can I ignore it? Is there some way to remove it?

Thanks in advance for any reply.

Update:

I've verified that the second problem also occurs on the Professional PC, so it seems a real Backupper

problem (not a Windows Problem).

AOMEI PE Boots, then BSOD's

The PE (using Win 7 Pro 64) boots through Loading Windows and the Windos flag, and then BSOD's with this message:

C0000145 {Application Error}

The Application was unable to start correctly. (0xc000000d) Click OK to close the application.

Any suggestions? (I tried the ones in the FAQ, but no joy).

CRITICAL ERROR Windows 10 Start menu issue after restore

After a clean windows 10 pro x64 install on a Latitude e7440 laptop, I installed Backupper v3.2 Technician ed. and proceeded a new system disk backup to a seperate drive. I wanted to have the oportunity to roll back my installation between different driver installs, to measure how the different driver versions affected my system performance and DPC-values.

My usual routine in windows 10 for updating the system, is to push the windows button and start typing "update", for which the system usually suggests "windows update" as one of the top hits, you press Enter and an app for that shows up. To my big suprise, after restoring to the previous point, my start-menu started reindexing - and I had to wait a bit, until the proper hits started showing up. I got even more perplexed, when after getting "windows update" as a search hit, i was unable to start the app by pushing Enter, or clicking on it!

You may say I was a little upset, after some good hours of debugging, that it was the Backupper restore that caused this behaviour. I initially didn't even assume it would be possible, since the whole harddrive should have returned to its previous pristine state after a complete restore! The problem gets even worse, as not only does this program brick my start menu; it does so even if you choose to restore a whole drive image, rather than a system image.
Sadly, this isn't the first time Backupper has issues with a proper functioning Windows Start menu. I previously reported freezing start-menu issue for windows 8.1 and waited for months without a reasonable explanation from the team until finally one day they issued an update solving the problem.

This issue is critical, as this means windows 10 support is broken until fixed.

Backupper shows "Assertion failed!

Hi,

Every time I am trying to do an incremental file backup to NAS i get this:

Assertion failed!

File: .\FlbFileRegion.cpp

line 73,

expression: 0==(pEnt->cbEnt%DEFAULT_ENTRY_SIZE

It did properly the initial complete backup and then 3 increments but then for the last 3 days fails with this message.

I check and it does it if I force it to do an incremental backup as well.

Please note that the system image backup to the same NAS works perfectly everyday.

Any clues what is wrong?

Thx,

Tom

System backup vs. disk backup

$

I have read different posts about this subject but I have still not found a resolution to my specific situation concerning the question of, should I do a system backup or a disk backup, because everyone starts muddying up the waters with talk of partitions and disks and drives.

My question is, if everything is on just one drive with no partitions, and that drive is the only thing on your disk, is there still a difference between a system backup and a disk backup? In my case, I have an internal 2T HDD that is labeled "Disk 0" and the only thing on that disk is a drive that has been labeled "C:" which contains everything in one primary partition.  I am backing up to an external 2T HDD that is "Disk 1" containing drive "E:" and I have done both types of backup using AOMEI Backupper (Free Version) and when I check the properties of both of these files, they are the same size.  Am I wrong in assuming that, in my situtation where everything on the HDD is included in one drive, there is no difference between the two types of backup, or is there some other difference between the two types of backup that matters when it comes time to restore the system or retrieve files?  I've seen talk of being able to boot from the drive which has also added confusion to the issue.

Thanks in advance for your time & attention.

Does AOMEI Backuper support the new M.2 slot PCIe 3.0 x4 disk drives?

I am thinking about buying the new Samsung 950 Pro disk drive. This drive installs in the M.2 slot on the motherboard and utilizes PCIe 3.0 x4 express lanes which results in read speeds of 1.5 GB/s.

After reading reviews about this disk drive I have discovered that people are finding it difficult to find backup software that will support this drive. One person wrote that Acronis 2015 would not recognize the drive and others have reported similar problems with other backup software.

Does anyone using Aomei backuper have any experience using this disk drive?

The Sectional Grinding Ball Mill Has Numerous Advantages

$

Influenced by the international economy and the constant technology improvement, the traditional production process cannot satisfy the modern production demands of high efficiency and high precision. Material fineness is a decisive key. In the past production practices of  used limestone milling machine , since we still stand in the stage of imitation and learning, so usually, we only allow for the basic working conditions and production output in equipment manufacture.

But due to the increasingly strict request of energy saving and environmental protection in our country, the extensive production mode of the original ball mills is not suitable for the production need of high precision at the present stage any longer. Therefore, to realize the double-bin or multi-bin classification grinding is an effective way for the large sized ball mills to improve efficiency, as well as the sally port to achieve an energy-saving production.

For  fly ash grinding mill , raw materials after going through the hollow shaft neck don't directly enter into the cylinder. It usually begins the separating function when the cylinder rotates around the horizontal axis at a certain speed. This separation effect makes large materials fall into the crushing bin, while the small pieces sent into the grinding bin.

Through further optimizing the grinding chamber, the  silica sand grinding mill  plays a certain deterrent role in the wastage of lining board and steel balls. After the contrast, we find that the strong crushing device in the first crushing bin can change its working conditions and shorten the grinding time in the second bin. This kind of ball mill has obvious advantages compared with the traditional ones.

External USB changes drive letter

$

I back up my PC to an external USB drive, and this normally works flawlessly. However, I see the backup job configurations use a hard-coded drive letter. This is usually OK, but there are times when the drive letter assigned to my USB drive has changed (usually E:, but it has come up as F: or G: on occasion). In that case, I notice that none of my backup jobs will work, as they are hard-coded to use the drive the device is normally mapped to.

In the end, I logged in as administrator, opened disk management, and manually re-mapped my USB drive back to E:, at which point all my backups became usable again.

Prior to forcibly remapping the drive letter I exported the backup configurations to an XML file in hopes that I could change the drive manually, then re-import the XML. The ambackup.xml file doesn't appear to be in UTF-8 format, or any other format readily recognized by my text editor (Notepad++).

A couple of questions, then:

Is there a way I can hand-edit the ambackup.xml file to change backup job drive mappings?

Is there a way to easily edit backup job settings to change the backup letter without losing any of my backup history?

Uninitialized component or function cell

$

Hi.

I have a new PC with Windows 8.1 Pro 64 installed and all updates applied.  It is installed on an SSD.  I have Backupper 2.0 Standard installed.

I successfully created a System Backup on the HDD, creating a total of three .adi files using the inbult split function for DVDs.  I also created a WinPE based recovery  boot CD.

I was able to successfully do a system restore by booting with the CD and using the files on the HDD.

I copied the three .adi files to DVDs using the Windows inbuilt burner program.

I tried to boot from CD and do a system restore from DVD.  After booting the PC, I replaced the CD with DVD 1 and set the file path to the DVD.  Backupper requested the last DVD of the set which I placed in the DVD drive.  Backupper then reported the error message "Uninitialized component or function cell".

Thinking the DVD may be corrupt, I copied the three .adi files from the DVDs to the HDD, created MD5 checksums for the original and copied files on the HDD, and found that the checksums of the copied files matched the original files, indicating no errors on the DVDs.

I then tried to boot from the CD and do a system restore using the files copied back from the DVDs and this was successful.

It is clear that the boot CD is OK, and that the backup DVDs are OK.

Thinking that the problem might have occurred because I removed the boot CD, I created a WinPE based recovery USB drive.  This was also unsuccessful.  It reported the same error message "Uninitialized component or function cell".

Why is it that the attempt to restore from the DVDs failed ?

What could I do differently that might work ?

After creation of recovery partition, automatically boot into Windows

$

After creating the recovery partition, on boot I know get a screen that asks me to chose which operating system I would like to boot into: either Windows or AOMEI recovery. Even setting Windows to the default and the timer to 3 seconds I still get stuck on this screen. Is there a way to hide the recovery option until it is needed? Ideally, I just want to boot into Windows until I chose to launch the backup/recovery winpe environment.
