I've previously used another product for cloning an entire HDD for complete backup redundancy on several machines. In using the sector-sector method in Partition Assistant, I see that I have a signature conflict betw/ the two drives and thus the target is offlineafter the copy is complete. I realize that means PA over-wrote the target's original signature with the source's. Is there any way to toggle that off so I can keep the signature unchanged and both drive internal without the conflict?

Onekey Recovery ISO file failure
Hi, I wonder if you can help.
I have a freesh install of Windows Vista Home Premium x86 running on a HP laptop with a 160Gb HDD. This is set up currently with 120Gb allocated and 40Gb unallocated.
I have installed Onekey Recovery 1.2 and am trying to run the Onekey System Backup for the first time.
When I press the system backup button, i choose the option to back up to AOMEI Recovery Partition, then next.
I get a screen telling me to preview and confirm changes, Onekey wants to create a 12.46Gb partition. I click "start backup"
I then see a progress bar - this goes to 25% - marking system partition. Then Creating Windows PE. It goes to 36%, then 42%, then 100% with the message "Creating ISO file failed". I have reinstalled the application numerous times, and I always get the same error.
What am I doing wrong? Do you need any more information to be able to help me?
Thanks in advance,
Darren

Delay Issue when opening app in PEBuilder
I'm trying to get an app called DesktopOK to work in PEBuilder. When I launch DesktopOK in PEBuilder nothing happens until
about 2 minutes later then DesktopOK will load. This also happens with another app that I created in AutoPlay Media Studio. Both of these apps work just fine in a standard WinPE x86 boot.wim so I know that it's something that was added to AOMEI PEBuilder that is causing the issue. I'm just trying to figure out what so that I can remove/disable it.
Here is a screenshot of output log in Process Monitor while loading the app. You can see the two minute delay highlighted...
Like I said above, I have tested these same exact apps in a standard WinPE boot.wim and they work fine. The same boot.wim that I am using to build my PEBuilder ISO. So it's definitely something that PEBuilder is adding in somewhere that is causing the issue.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!
What does AOMEI OneKey check for to determine recovery partition?
I'm trying to manually create the recovery partition for which AOMEI OneKey puts it's "boot" files on. I'm referring to the ~800MB partition that contains...
[BOOT]
boot
EFI
sources
bootmgr.efi
Version.ini
I've tried to delete the partition and recreate it, however, as soon as I go back into AOMEI OneKey and click on the "Gear" icon, I get this message....
I was thinking maybe it checked the Volume Label but that wasn't it. So I'm assuming it checks for some kinda Volume ID or something like that. I wasn't able to find any config files or anything in the registry that would contain said Volume ID's so I'm assuming this is some kinda ID that is hard coded into OneKey.
Can anyone shed some light on this?

Access Denied - Unable to Open Folder After Backup
Hello, I backed up my C drive because I needed to Reset My Computer to Factory Default. The backup went well and I am able to browse and access almost all files except one folder where all my documents are. Here is what happens when I try to access:
1. I get this message:
"You don't currently have permission to access this folder.
Click Continue to permanenly get access to this folder
2. I click on Continue.
3. Then I get this message:
"You have been denied permission to access this folder."
To gain access to this folderyou will need to use the security tab.
4. I have given myself Full Access from the security tab to everything that I can think of including of course the folder
I need but cannot acces because obviously its an image and permission cannot be overwritten.
Any help is appreciated.
My laptop Freezes when Cloning the C drive partition (Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bit)
Hi there, I'm using Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bit with Service pack 2.
After installing AOMEI 3.2, I have been trying to clone my "C" drive partition on to a new hard disk by using "System Partition", however after about 700-800 mb copying, my laptop freezes. I have already cloned "D" drive (data partition) on to the new hard disk by using "Partition Clone" with no problem.
I also tried to use "Partition clone" for the "C" drive, however had the same problem.
The old hard disk is in the laptop and the new hard disk is connected to the laptop via a USB cable.
Could you please advise what needs to be done to rectify the problem. Thank you
Need to create a boot disk?
After creating a system image, do I need to create a boot drive for restoration?
Unable to explore image created on NAS
Hello,
Using another product for my "professional backups" for more than a decade I wanted to evaluate something new - maybe as a recommendation for "friends an family". So I came across AOMEI backupper. Was amazed on the ease of setting up and using the product (Standard Edition 3.2, Win 7 Pro, Synology 213+).
First Full (=System) Backup went fine including verification / validation.
However when I tried to mount my backup as a virtual drive to EXPLORE it I failed: Actually the explore-tool said "operation completed successfully" and a new virtual drive was shown in Windows Explorer. But I could not access it (windows error message said "drive not ready") and the newly created virtual drive did not show up in backupper. So I was unable to DISMOUNT it properly within backupper - I had to reboot my PC to get rid of the unaccessible virtual drive.
Maybe this problem results from improperly passing user access information to my NAS - any ideas?
Best regards
Backuppe unable to see system disk
Just installed backupper.
Can't make a system backup. The main disk OS(C:) is not visible. OS is Windows 10 (Home), Tried runninng Backupper as administrator, didn't help. The C: drive and the D: drive are both visible in the file explorer.
Is this is Windows 10 Home problem? Computer is an ASUS T100 Transformer notebook.
Please help
Aomei Backupper - Surface 3
Using Backupper Standard 3.2. I have no issues with backups or restores on other pcs but on my Surface 3 notebook, Im unable to do a backup image because Aomei does not see the system partition.
I dont know if this has to do with how the Surface 3 doesnt have a traditional SSD or Hard Drive but rather has an eMMC type drive
Is this a known issue?
Aomei PE and VeraCrypt
Hi,
Using the integrated Aomei Pe Builder 1.5 with VeraCrypt run into the following situation of not being able to back up files that are located on the encrypted partition. The Aomei asks to reboot, but already in PE environment.
VeraCrypt documentation is in order to back up files that reside on the partition. I'm trying to use the function of Aomei Backup files

AOMEI Backuper System Restore gone Amuck
I tried to restore a System Backup with AOEMI Backupper Standard and it made an absolute mess of things.
I am running the 64bit flavor of Windows 10 and have three hard drives.:
Drive 0 (512 GB) is the system drive and is split into two partitions. Partition 1 (C:) contains the operating system and the bulk of my installed programs. Partition 2 (D:) contains games and a Temp folder that is used when I want to fast access to files (Drive 0 is significantly faster than the other drives.
Drive 1 (256 GB) is for data and contains a single partition (E:). It contains several years worth of personal data and my Dropbox folder. Most of my Windows special folders (My Documents, Favorites, Contactrs, etc) are redirected to folders within the Dropbox folder along with many of the Application data/settings folders from the user AppData folder.
Drive 2 (256 GB) is a temporary cache drive with a single partition (F:) used for working with video and audio projects.
I had previously created a standard System Image in Backupper and it captured Partition 1 from Drive 0 along with two related hidden partitions, just as I'd expect. This was stored on a NAS on the same network as the computer. When I decided to restore this image, I copied it to the Temp folder on Partition 2 of Drive 0. This is the how I've been handing System backups and restores for years with Acronis True Image with the above drive setup.
When I started the restore, I used the Path option to find and select the Image file in the Temp folder mentioned above. Backupper prompted me that this particular backup was a System Image and asked if I'd like to do a System Restore; the answer to that seemed pretty obvious! There was a toggle to "Restore system to other location", but I wanted to restore this image to the original drive, so I left that alone. The operation summary looked perfectly normal, so I proceeded with the restore.
Upon completion of the restore and a boot back up into Windows, Dropbox complained that it could not find the dropbox folder on Drive E:. Ruh roh! I opened up explorer and noticed that the label for Drive E: was no longer "Data", but was "System" instead and it was now a mirror image of the C: System drive; the Dropbox folder and other data folders were nowhere to be seen. Backupper had restored the system image to Drive 1, completely wiping all of my data!
I quickly reformatted the Data drive and recreated the Dropbox folder, expecting Dropbox to start syncing all of the files from the cloud to the local drive, but the stupid thing decided to Sync the new empty local folder TO the cloud, thus deleting all of the files and folders in the cloud. ::sigh:: I do also have backups on the previously mentioned NAS, but what a freakin mess.
After a few hours, I successfully restore most of my data and take a look at Backupper again. I thought that I might have missed a step to select the backup location but can find no such step. Why would it default a system restore to a completely separate drive!?
I checked out the "Restore system to other location" and decided to give that a try by manually selecting the system partition as the location (Partition 1 of Drive 0). It seemed like an unecessary step, but if that's all I have to in order to restore a system backup, it's not a big deal at all.
Upon completion of the second restore and a boot back up into Windows, Dropbox complained that it could not find the dropbox folder on Drive E: ... again. Drive 0 was overwritten... again. data files wiped... again.
WTF!? Is there no way to restore a system image to the drive that it was created from? Why is it overwriting a completely unrelated drive? There's absolutely no indication during the initial restore steps that Drive 1 is the target. If I didn't have redundant backups, this would have been an absolute disaster.
What is Error Code:4103
My backup fails when it is backing up the (C) partition. I get the Error code: 4103. Does anyone know what this means and what I need to do to get a successful backup?
Partition backup help needed
Hello,
Some times ago I performed a partition backup, from my Windows 7 Machine to Synology NAS.
I did not checked the final result of the backup, but apparently did not went very well .... It' not a system
backup but a data partition.
Now I try to restore it, and each time I get an error message " The Image file is incorrect. This file seems incomplete...."
The backup file size is big around 200Gb which reflects what I tried to backup.
Anyway is there a way or tool/command line that can be used to explore what has been backuped and extract at least some files that I am looking for.
Many thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
disk backup vs. system backup
gents,
a newbie - so this question is perhaps trivial but i don't understand.
my laptop is a w7-64bit w/ssd having 148gb of storage wit 112gb 'used' and 36.2gb 'free'
i did a 'system backup' and then a 'disk backup'.
the 'system backup' tok 75,278,825kb
the 'disk backup' took 75,105,285kb
these numbers should be much different, yes? the 'disk backup' in general should be larger than the 'system backup', yes?
is there a way to compare the lists of the folders that were part of each of the backups? i took the backups using whatever aomei had as defaults - i made no changes - this was my first test. so i'm curious what aomei would back up in each case.
so, i apologize for the low level of the question; but i'm trying to learn.
please steer me to what i should read/research to come up the curve.
thanks,
rny1aomei
File Backup no working
On the latest version of Backup (free version) "Folder" can not be selected in the File Backup dropdown. "File" can be selected. "Folder" icon is distorted. Using Windows 10 with latest updates.
Modified order of disk letters following Disk Restore
I'm using Aomei Backupper 3.2 on a Lenovo Thinkpad E-540 with Windows 8.1.
Everytime I make a Disk Restore the order of my disks is changed and the boot loader can't find the C:-disk with the operating system until I use bcdboot to re-assign the correct volume.
In fact, while I originally have the OS on C:, DVD on D: and a backup disk on E:, after restore I get the DVD on E: and the backup disk on D:.
Why does this happen? Can I influence the correct mapping of the disks with Aomei when restoring?
Thanks for your suggestions
Peter
