Windows to go creator setup error

$

Hi guys,

I'm trying to use the Windows to go creator in AOMEI partition assistent to create an windows 8.1 Enterprise windows to go stick.

I'm using a 128Gb SSD flash drive to do this. Therefore i can't use the original windows to go wizard from microsoft since this drive is not a MS certified drive.

Problem i'm running in to is that when using the windows to go creator the formatting goed ok, but when it starts installing the .WIM file after around 1-2% it stops en gives me an error message "Setup failed" with no further information.

When I take a look on the drive after the error i only see two folders (PerfLogs and Program Files, the last one only filled with a few folders but no files).

I tried a few other USB drives, I even tried an actual MS certified W2G drive en tried the same on other computers but still the same error.

So my question is, what am i doing wrong or what haven't i tried yet?

Hope to hear from you soon.

Hello,

I've cloned a 1 TB disk with 6 partitions on a 1 TB new disk. For this I've used AOMEI Backupper 2.0.2

After cloning the OSs start alright on the new disk.

But
when I try to make an incremental or a differential backup with the
existing images stored on the new disk in the same partition and
location, I've the error :

Backup is initializing...
The specified volume 0(C:) hasn't been found or has been changed.
Information Code:4123
All partitions that need to be backed up have not been found.

The same error occured with primary partitions who store OSs and with extended partitions who store data.

I've tried to backup one of the partitions on the old disk and restore to the new disk but the same error occured.

If someone have a solution or an explanation to this problem.

Hello, I backed up my C drive because I needed to Reset My Computer to Factory Default. The backup went well and I am able to browse and access almost all files except one folder where all my documents are. Here is what happens when I try to access:

1. I get this message:
"You don't currently have permission to access this folder.
Click Continue to permanenly get access to this folder

2. I click on Continue.

3. Then I get this message:
"You have been denied permission to access this folder."
To gain access to this folderyou will need to use the security tab.

4. I have given myself Full Access from the security tab to everything that I can think of including of course the folder
I need but cannot acces because obviously its an image and permission cannot be overwritten.

Any help is appreciated.

Backupper Standard 2.0.2 FREE edition asking for Registration/Buy/Upgrade ( Expiration notice/bug? )

Hi, i was looking for a descent backup utility, and Aomei looked a quite powerfull, usefull and friendly user interface program, however i run into 1 problem, if i try the free version ( standard edition 2.0.2 ) it suddenly asks for registration ( buy the Pro version ) , i get the "Trial expiration notice" , and i cant recover or backup aymore ( within Windows that is ) , i tried it on several systems, new installations, all the same...

Any1 else have this problem? ( bug??) , on the homepage it says clearly "freeware" , not TRIAL, and even after using/testing 3 recovery's i already get the msg.
I emailed the helpdesk and they are friendly and all, but quite slowly, i need to make a decision soon to choose a new backup program ( im an Acronis user for years now ) , and im postponing backups atm already, so i post here on the forum to find a quick solution.

thanks in advance,

Andy

Query on experience with Partition Backup VS Files Backup

$

I am trying out backupper 2.0.2 server version (please note that I am not an IT guy - hence trying out in my own layman ways)!

Hence first day I tried multiple scheduled backups using "partition backup" option (with differential + no compression selections) and second day tried multiple scheduled backups using "file backup" option (though the software did prompt a recommendation to use "partition" option as I was backing up whole drive) - this time also with differential + no compression selections - both days for the same drive in which I store my data and I am backing up to an external hard disk.

I have two queries:

1. I found a difference of more than 3gb in the base backup file size for these two options - partition backup base file was 19GB while files backup base file was 15.2GB (the actual drive is 19GB on server when seen in explorer) - hence, my query is why this size difference as in one day my server storage had not changed much?

2. And secondly - i did not have any problem opening explore backup image (unlike many postings i have seen on this forum) - BUT if I explore image of the subsequent differential backup files (the smaller ones created after the main base backup file) - then it is showing me all files - which is also not bad - but then how do I know which files have changed since previous differential backup version? As I am talking about about 3000 folders/subfolder with 17-18k files - hence only a differential listing would be good / preferable.

Request advise - or whether I am missing some step.

[HELP]APA Space transfer between partitions failed. PC crashed, now partition not showing up in HDD.

I once did this and it worked, but this time I think I did it the wrong way, I remember doing it a different way before. This is how I think I did it now. So I tried to give more space to my C from F disk. Used 'Resize Partition' from F disk to take 35GB. It was Unnalocated. Then used 'Merge Partitions' with it to my C disk. Clicked 'Apply' and the process started. I remember there were 3steps, after the 3rd started the % quickly went to the end and then my PC crashed. Mouse didn't move and the screen was messed up. With strikes of colorful lines. Looked like a video card crash or something.

Shut down my pc, and started it up again, it wanted me to check my disk, the black screen with 10second countdown. I did that and didn't notice anything that said that something was corrupted or that there were any errors. PC just booted normally. Then I went to Comptuer from Start menu. And the F disk is missing. But it seems that the proccess actually worked, and it increased my C space. I have it weird set up right now, that my C disk has the windows and other basic things, while all the programs and games were installed on my F disk.(most of my memory on F disk, only gave C the minimum it needed)

In the Aomei Partition Asisstant it still shows my F disk. But the Status says 'None' under it. While the C disk has 'Boot' under it. Do I just have to enable it somehow? I tried the option 'Check Partition' on my F drive using the middle option , but it gave an error saying that I have to use chkdsk.exe in command line. So I didn't bother to do that. Here are some screenshots.

I didn't try to do anything because I'm afraid I might corrupt it and I'm not that familiar what all the options do in this program.

Cannot boot from external hard disc after Cloning C drive

$

I have an external  hard drive (drive P=1.5TB)  + two internal hard drives (drive C=2TB and drive D=1TB). All drives are 75% free.

I have upgraded my D drive from Vista to WIN 7 and cleaned up the D drive. WIN7 is running 100% OK on my D drive The speed difference is amazing.

What I am trying to do

-----------------------------

Eventually, I want to make my internal C drive, the main bootable drive with WIN7 on, instead of D. But for the moment, just boot up from P drive.

As a first step, and as a test, I cloned my D drive onto my external P drive with Aomei Backupper standard. But Win7 will not boot from the external P drive. I tried this after cloning with Aomei. I got a slightly more encouraging result from Aomei (v EaseUs) as my PC tries to start. I get an optimistic "Windows is loading files" message imageafter the BIOS Flash Screen but then disappointment follows imageas the process jumps back to the BIOS screen going into a loop of BIOS screen -> Windows is Loading files -> BIOS screen->Windows is Loading files. So my QUESTION ONE IS: Can I / how can I use Aomei so that my PC is bootable from the clone on my external P drive, without having to use a boot media first.

If / when I can get that to work, I can then move onto phase 2, which is to clone from D to C -> then make C my start up drive. I guess I will need to change the order of HDD priority, via BIOS but QUESTION TWO please - will I need to switch the HDD jumpers to define master / slave - or is that a thing of the past (XP)?.

Any tips would be much appreciated.

information code 4160

My scheduled incremental backup for last night did not successfully run, citing information code 4160 (about which I can find no info on the website). There was very little info, and in the absence of a backup log (which would be very helpful), I have no idea of the problem. I successfully ran a full backup a week ago to the same destination location on an external drive. My OS is Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1.

Incorrectly Reported Restore Size - Unable to restore [Easily]

So I got Windows 7 tweaked and updated exactly as I wanted it after a fresh installation. I thought it would be a good idea to make a backup with AOMEI Backupper for obvious reasons. So I made a backup of my entire SSD.

Of course, I needed to make sure that this backup worked before relying on it. So after assuring I had my user files backed up safely along with the AOMEI image, I wiped my SSD.

Next I stuck the WinPE AOMEI boot media in the system and loaded it up. I found my image and clicked on restore, entered my password, and it automatically detected it was a system backup. It prompted me if this was the case, and I confirmed. Next I tried to select which drive I wanted it to go to, and it says that the backup file is TOO BIG for this disk. Of course, this is ridiculous, as I had literally just made a backup...

After an insane amount of hoop jumping: needing a Linux livecd, and Windows 7 installer (to repair boot), I managed to get it restored by (this is long story short) creating a 110MB (using exactly 100MB wouldn't work) partition with Linux, as well as the rest of the drive as another partition. Then instead of restoring all at once as a system restore, I just restored each partition seperately. Luckily this did the trick, however then the system wouldn't boot. So I had to get another computer and create a Windows 7 installer USB, and use their repair boot option to have it discover the installation on the drive, and re-establish it.

So what the heck happened? Why in the world would the image say it was bigger than the drive? It's the exact same drive.

There must be an error somewhere in this program. This needs some looking into.. and I'm lucky I got it all back. I guess I could have pulled all the files from the backup after manually re-installing Windows.. but that would have been a pain. This program has one major thing it needs to do, and it failed in doing so. I feel I can no longer trust AOMEI Backupper for my backup needs, after this nightmare of an experience. Figuring out the workaround above took hours and hours, jumping from system to system, etc. I don't wish this on my enemies!

Below are photos I took which detail the problems I was seeing. I took these AFTER I got back into Windows.. and tried to see if the actually Windows version (not PE) would fare any better. Clearly it didn't, as it shows the exact same problem as I had in the WinPE.

Here are the photos (I stuck them on my Flickr account): https://flic.kr/s/aHsk3AWLgu

Backupper will not restore backup to a larger drive

I have used AOMEI Backupper to make a System Image of a 500 GB HD, which
is partitioned into a 68 GB and around a 430 GB. I had a problem with
the boot getting corrupted on the computer so I have tried restoring my
backup and once I restore it, the computer still will not boot. So, I
took a 640 GB HD and put into the system and tried restoring my backup
to it (the 640 GB is completely wiped and free) and when I try to
restore it I get an error message saying that the drive is not large
enough I still need an additional 823 GB? What? The whole image cannot
be larger than 500 GB because that is the max size the drive was that
the image was made from. So, why would it require an additional 823 GB?

Scheduled Backup Problems

I've installed Aomei Backupper on both my desktop pc's.  Both are Version 2.0.2.  Both are Windows 8.1 x64. Scheduled Backup is putting an entry in the Task Scheduler Library on one pc and all is well.  However, on the other pc Scheduled Backup will not work no matter what I do.  I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, resetting Scheduled Backup, etc. but nothing seems to work.  Any suggestions?

wrong version?

Hi Guys,

I have backupper Standard v 2.0.1 according to "about" dialogue box, and I'm very happy with the product.

Thanks a lot indeed!

...But when I go to "check for updates" it's stated that I have v1.6 (???) and sure offers an update to 2.0.2

Well, reading current changelog it seems to me that I do not need 2.0.2 at the moment

It's confusing. So basically what about v1.6 discrepancy?

Thanks in advance

Cheers!
