Can't backup => Information Code: 4140

Hi,

I just wanted to create my first Backup => System Backup => Step1 => *:Data & C: => Setp2 H:\

H:\ is an USB-Drive NTSF 1TB more than 700 GB free.

I used the default settings, VSS switched off.


But I get:

The backup driver works improperly, you could restart the computer to solve the problem.


Ok - I checked the H:-drive with chkdsk using your Partition Assistant and found no Error:

PS: Now I am try to create a what-ever (System Image or Backup?) with your OneKey Recovery of Data: & C: on H: and it seems I have no problem with H: - VSS is switched off on my PC!

PPS: After this last Backup has been finished I was able to use your Backupper to

1) check the integrety of the image-file

2) to explore their content.


To bring all together

1) Backupper couldn't create a system image due to 4140

2) OneKey Recovery did create the system image on that usb-drive (H:\)

3) Backupper now can access the image-file on H:\ ..

After updating to version 3.1 the AOMEI Backupper can't backup flash drive.


Following details below:


Information code: 4140

The backup driver works incorrectly, you can restart the computer to resolve the problem.

ABPro Install failure build 3.1.0.0

Running Windows 10:10240.


Is any one else getting a runtime error when trying to install this build?


Error message is "Runtime error (at 31:984)  Out of string range"


I opted to keep my serial number details when asked, and the installer uninstalled the previous build without a problem.


I have yet to try rebooting the PC to see if this makes any difference.

HI, I have purchased the lifetime license for Backupper. If there's any new version release, do i have to re-create bootable media? If yes, how can i update the bootable files or Aomei pogram without have to format my usb drive because i already loaded all the software and backup files to it. Thanks

Backupper Scheduler not working

Hello and thank you for the great software you have created.

I am having trouble regarding the schedule feature of the software.

Although I create a schedule for the backup it doesn't run at all if i don't use the windows task scheduler option.

I was under the impression that the schedule feature could be run using only the backround service of the program and doesn't neceserily need the windows task scheduler.

I am new to Aomei and just installed AB Pro 2.8. I am using my own SMTP server and can't get AB to send a message after completion of the backup. Sending a test message works well. Is this a known problem or do I just have something messed up?

Information code:4101 - Failed to create file

With latest Backupper v3.1 when I try to do a disk backup over the network, starting the PC with a WinPE USB key, I obtain the error "Information code:4101 - Failed to create file".

The remote computer that should host the image file is a Windows 7 with a share on the system partition. 

After selecting "Disk Backup" (Step1) I select the remote share (Step2->Share/NAS) and enter all the data needed to connect to the share. Finally after having chosed the desired folder (please note that I'm able to browse the remote shared folder) I start the backup...everything seems fine but after a few second the process stop with the following message: 

Backing up data...

Information code:4101

Failed to create file.

I tried so many times, with different combinations (using IP address instead of the name, etc) but everytime the same error. I tried also previous releases of the Backupper, still starting from a WinPE based usb key and I discovered that the backup to a remote Windows 7 share works fine up to the v2.5, whereas v2.8 is the first release with this kind of issue.

One more detail: all the Backupper release I tried are able to complete a backup over the network if I select a NAS (based on Nas4Free - Freebsd v9 running SAMBA) share as the remote device. This is true also for the latest v3.1 release. Quite confusing...

Hope you can fix this issue, Backupper is a very nice piece of software!

dual boot

I made a clone of my operating system using Backupper onto a separate partition on the same hard drive.  I can go into Control Panel and System to boot to each system, but I don't get a choice at startup.  Will this work?  Thanks for the help.

Beeping sound during disk partitioning

Hi everyone,
I tried yesterday to resize my C: drive partition and create a new partition out of the unallocated space (approximate time for the jobs 2h30).
When I started the jobs last night, I was first asked for a reboot and right after that I started hearing beeping sounds coming from my laptop, but no error were displayed on screen (completely black).
It is now 10h after I started the jobs and there is still this sound and a black screen.
My question is simple, is it normal to hear this sound and for the jobs to take this long?
If not, what shoould I do (force shutdown...)?
Any advice is welcome.

Making a backup I meet diffirent terms. system backup, my back up, disk backup. I want to be able to back/recover my whole system (e.g. W10) and/or my data collection and the possibility to recover some specific data. You probably have noticed I am not a Backup expert. I heard that the AOMEI is one of the best program to do it with, but can you help me by telling me what to do? I started with the free version because I do not think I need much more, but even that I can not judge really..... Thank you in advance

Help needed understanding schedules Please.

I need to make a schedule  doing incrementals every two hours and merging them down to a full backup at the end of the week, then starting a fresh week.

always retaining the last 3 full weekly backups.

This way I have the last 3 weeks to go back to if nessaccary

I have tried to understand the AMOEI shceduling but I am afraid I must be getting old or something because I just can't get my head around it.


In shadow protect this was really easy to do and very easy to understand but I want to change over to AMOEI backupper if I can get this schedule set up.


Could some one give me an example please? it doesn't have to be exactly the same just something similar so that I can get my head around it!

I would be very grateful of some help.

Recover overlaping partitions

Hello! I am trying to recover my lost partitions and I would like to ask for your help.

Recently,
I changed the operating system of my laptop a few times. In the process
I was not very cautious and messed the partition structure of the hard
drive. I used to have one patition for the OS and one for data. There
were also a few more system partitions, for example one that the manufacturer put there to
recover the system.


When I run the partition recovery
wizzard (deep search), it was able to find the partitions but I could
not mount the back. I was getting this :

I am not able to proceed, as I am getting the message "The selected partition overlaps ... ".


Is it possible to recover the partitions as they used to be?

Version update question: Install wants to 'completely uninstall' previous version. Is this ok?

When installing AOMEI Standard V3.1 on Windows 7 with V2.8 already installed, I'm asked if I'm sure I want to 'completely uninstall' the current version (2.8).  Well, I think I do UNLESS it means that my existing backups can not be used.  So, before I 'completely uninstall' (and install the latest version), I have to ask, Is this safe to do?
