Restoring Disk Image to a new SSD ?

$

How do you run AOMEI on a new replacement SSD?

The Disk Restore instructions say to install & launch the AOMEI software. How would I install this on a new SSD since Windows is not yet on the new SSD, and won’t be until I restore the image?

I see that you can make a bootable USB drive in order to boot the target computer. But what good will that do if AOMEI is not yet installed on the computer’s new SSD?

With Windows 7 the original disk could be used to boot & restore an image.

I didn’t see anything about installing & running AOMEI from a USB thumb drive. If that’s what is recommended then why install it on the SDD in the first place?

Obviously I’m not understanding something or am just confusing myself. Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Could it be more accurate when this problem will be fixed? I want to buy the program, but with all this delay it gets complicated.

Is there any way to pass an exact date?

Backupper very slow backup to NAS

This seems to have just started with the latest version(s) of Backupper, but when I perform a wireless backup to my network attached storage, the backup speed is ridiculously slow. Often then backup will start with 18-24mbps range but soon drop to 1-2mbps and simple system backups might take over 20hrs! Both the computer's & NAS drives are error free & testing throughput between the devices with outher programs puts the speed at 80-300mbps. I have tested on 2 seperate routers & 4 different computers but all have shown dramatically slower backup speed recently. I have disabled the QOS option on the routers to elimante that as a possibility. Only other change is that all of the systems were recently upgraded to Windows 10.

Any thoughts as to why the backups over wireless are performing so slowly? Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Cloning a PS4 Internal Drive

Is it possible to Clone an internal PS4 Hard Drive to another drive (SSD or HDD) connected to a Windows (10 Pro) PC running your software?

Most software renders the copied drive as corrupted within the PS4, even when cloning identical size drives. The PS4 includes multiple encrypted partitions that tend to get missed during the cloning.

Reason I ask, it’s much faster to pull the drive from a unit and clone it via a connecting it to a SATA-3 head on a PC, and placing the drive with the cloned data back into the unit, when dealing with other items (PC, Consoles, etc.).

Backing up an entire internal HDD from a PS4 through its USB 3.0 controller can take quite some time. Then transferring the data back after installing the OS on the PS4 is another long episode.

Folder Sync Backup with MagentaCloud and Boxcryptor

Hello.

I use Boxcryptor to encrypt my cloud space on MagentaCloud (German Telekom Cloud)
Boxcryptor setup a new Drive with letter X:
To use the encryption function i must copy files/folders to X:\Magenta\encrypted
Then Boxcryptor will encrypt and the Magenta App will upload to the cloud.

In AOMEI Backupper i use synchronisation, select an folder, select destination X:\Magenta\encrypted
But i got an error

4196: Failed to get free space on the target location or the target path does not exist/Unknown Error.

Drive X: looks like an Harddrive with the same size the Magenta Folder on my SSD F:
So my MagentaCloud sync folder is F:\Magenta
Boxcryptor forward this from X: to F:
This will work if i copy by myself but AOMEI Backupper will not work

If i use the Sync folder F:\Magenta this will work !
But then i have no encryption !

Any idea to solve this ?

Just updated to Aomei 5.9 on two PCs.
When selecting Backup...Disk Backup my destination USB hard drive isn't listed (Always listed as F in the past).
I have a C drive for programmes and a D drive  for storage.
The D drive is listed as the destination drive...plus the option of a network destination.

How do I get F as the destination drive?
Advice Please.

Create Rescue Media fails

I am using Backupper Professional version 5.9 and I am unable to get the bootable media function to work correctly.  I selected the option to create a Linux  bootable disc (see the attached Linux Selection file).  However, when I attempt to execute the task an error message pops up saying that the disc is not writable (See attached error.jpg file).  As you can see from the attached file, disk status, the CD that is in the DVD drive is empty.  I also get the same behavior when I attempt to create a WinPE version of the rescue media if I attempt to burn it to disc.  I have two different DVD drives and I experience the same behavior with both drives.

Now if I select the option to create an ISO file the task is successful and then when I use a 3rd party program (Nero) I am able to write the file to the CD that Backupper is complaining about.  I checked the user's manual just on the off chance that I was doing something wrong and that does not appear to be the case.

Has anyone else experienced this behavior and if so what is the solution?

Linux Rescue Media not recognizing a USB mouse

When I boot up my machine using the Linux Rescue CD everything appears to be fine except that the mouse does not work.  You see the mouse pointer displayed on the screen but it doesn't work.  My guess is that the mouse driver is not being loaded when the machine is booted up off of the rescue disc.

The mouse is a Logitech wireless M510 mouse with a USB wireless receiver.  Now if I create the WinPE Bootable Legacy Disc the mouse works fine off of that boot disc.  The drivers for the mouse are the Microsoft default drivers in Windows 10, Ver 2004.

Problem restore using v5.7

Backup my Win10 using version 5.7 of the software. However, when I try to restore back the image, I noticed the Win10 comes with many extra partitions. The usual one is only 3 IIRC. When reboot, I get a system error and just stuck there.

Anyone having the same problem?

Partition Assistant without admin rights

Hi forum,

Aomei says here:

"You have no need to be an administrator so that you can use AOMEI Partition Assistant on your computer"

I tried Partition Assistant on a computer where I have no admin rights, but it requests admin rights as soon as I start it.

Please advise.

Thank you

hiberfil.sys included in backup

The Registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\BackupRestore\FilesNotToBackup includes both \pagefile.sys and \hiberfil.sys
The System Backup excludes pagefile.sys but it includes hiberfil.sys
Any idea why the Registry setting is not implemented?

Updating Backupper from 5.6 to 5.7 causes problem with Adobe Reader DC and AOMEI User Manual

I clean installed W10 earlier in the year and installed version 5.6 (then current version) of Backupper Professional. All was good.

When updating version 5.6 to 5.7 a curious issue arises. The installed PDF User Manual for Backupper is no longer reachable via the AOMEI interface. Having clicked  'User Manual' it is then apparent that this operation partly initiates Adobe Reader DC (it can be seen running in task manager) however Adobe will not from that point on open any PDF from any source.

The only way back from this is either a reboot or to terminate Adobe in Task Manager. Having done this Adobe operates normally for all pdf's excluding the link from AOMEI interface.

The user manual pdf located in program files for AOMEI opens normally if accessed directly from program files so it is not itself corrupt.

As confirmation of this issue I restored back to a disk image where 5.6 was still installed. All worked OK once again. I tried updating this with a fresh copy of version 5.7  and again the same problem. The 'User Manual' link breaks Adobe Reader DC.

Backupper Pro amwrtdrv.sys causes system crash

$

I've been experiencing frequent systems crashes when Backupper Pro starts (and sometimes just after it finishes).

I'm using Backupper Pro 4.6.2 with Windows 10 Pro 1809 at current service level (KB4489899)

I have a Partition Incremental backup scheduled for 04:35 every day, using the AOMEI scheduler service.

Every other day a system crash, followed by reboot, occurs just after the backup starts, and the backup never completes. I suspect that the first backup after a reboot works, but subsequent backups fail, although I haven't had a chance to test this theory.

The WhoCrashed utility reports this crash is caused by the amwrtdrv.sys driver, shown below:

On Sat 23/03/2019 04:36:10 your computer crashed or a problem was reported
crash dump file: C:\WINDOWS\MEMORY.DMP
This was probably caused by the following module: amwrtdrv.sys (amwrtdrv+0x14D2)
Bugcheck code: 0xA (0x138, 0x2, 0x0, 0xFFFFF80058C9CB7A)
Error: IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
file path: C:\WINDOWS\system32\amwrtdrv.sys

I tried using the Windows Task Scheduler to run the daily backup and interestingly the backup completed successfully, but was followed immediately by a similar amwrtdrv.sys crash and reboot.

Possibly not related, but I notice that the two versions of amwrtdrv.sys on my system have a slight difference. Both have a Created/Accessed date of 23 February 2019 (when I installed 4.6.2) and both have a Modified date of 01 September 2017.
But C:\Windows\System32\amwrtdrv.sys is 38,320 bytes
Whereas C:\Program FIles (x86)\AOMEI Backupper\driver\i386\amwrtdrv.sys is 34,864 bytes

Any, positive, suggestions?
