AOMEI PE builder apparently can't find downloaded WinPE creating environment

$

Hi,

I installed AOMEI PE builder version 2.0 on my Win XP Pro SP3 32 bit system, and the first time I ran it, when it started to initialise the WinPE creating environment, I manually downloaded the WinPE environment 32 bit zip file by clicking on the link in "if the download speed is too slow, please click here to download the creating environment and unzip it to the installation directory of the software". I also clicked on the question mark at the end of that line, which said that the files should be unzipped to the directory specified in "C:\Program Files\AOMEI PE Builder 2.0\DownloadPath.ini". I then ended PE builder as I wasn't able to continue with it at that time.

A few days later I got back to it. The DownloadPath.ini file specified "C:\Windows\TEMP\PB Download\x86", so I unzipped the WinPE zip file to that directory, retaining the directory structure in the zip file. I then started PE builder again, and when it got to the WinPE creating environment screen I removed the tick from "download WinPE creating environment from the internet" (since I had previously downloaded it). However as soon as I did that, the "next" box at the bottom of the screen changed colour from brown/orange to dark grey, and when I clicked on it, nothing happened, i.e. the "next" button was inoperative. This would appear to indicate that it couldn't find the WinPE files I previously downloaded and unzipped.

I tried copying the unzipped WinPE files to a different directory and changing the DownloadPath.ini file accordingly, but I got the same problem.

How can I get the AOMEI PE builder to "find" the unzipped WinPE files? Do I have to change the directory structure after unzipping the downloaded zip file, or remove 1 or 2 layers? It's now "C:\Windows\TEMP\PB Download\x86\WinPE Env\x86\ISO", with the ISO subdirectory containing one file (bootmgr) and 2 further subdirectories (Boot and Sources)

How can I accomplish this?

Cannot explore image

Synopsis:  a system backup cannot be accessed from explorer

Setup:

0) Windows 10 installed on a BootCamp partition successfully created by OS X (High Sierra)

1) created a system backup using Backupper Professional

2) verified backup successful

3) Backupper Pro:Utilities:Explore Image

    a) select the system backup to explore

    b) select the backup point (in this case there was only one)

    c) map disk/partition to new drive letter (D:, F:, whatever; in this case, D:)

    d) Image preview is initialized, checked and attached to drive D: successfully

4) open explorer and select drive D:

    a) a modal dialog displays the following information:

        (1) location is not available (in the title bar)

        (2) D:\ is not accessible

        (3) Incorrect function

5) Return to Backupper Pro: Utilities:Explore Image and detach image successfully

What to do?  Windows 10 appears to be well behaved.  I have no issues booting back and forth from OS X to Windows.  OS X Disk Utility pronounces all the partitions as healthy.  And, for that matter, so does Backupper.  I am at a complete loss as to how to access this backup.  By the way, I created a new backup of a new Bootcamp partition and encountering the same problem.  I really need to get this data back so any help would be appreciated.

Can't start machine after moving unallocated space on disk.

Hi All

I have a serious issue with my machine after trying to move the unallocated space on my primary disk to the right hand side of the C: drive.

Basically it will not start at all. Not in safe mode or from the repair disk I made.

I have  BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO displayed and technical information says   STOP:0x00000074.

There are some other numbers listed after that but not sure they'd be useful.

There is also a crash dump generated but I don't know how I would get to that since the machine won't boot.

Any help greatly appreciated as I really need to get the thing back if possible.

Thanks for looking.

UI Bug - Submenu Not Accessible

The Backupper submenus are not accessible, please see screenshot.

The Backupper (or Backupper Professional) application runs on a fresh Windows installation, no other software is installed, and all drivers are up to date (2019/01/12).

Following changes do not solve the problem: changing the Windows screen resolution, changing the Windows screen scaling factor, changing the BIOS display configuration, changing between activation of CPU-internal graphic card and discrete graphic card.

This work-around does work: After each mouse click, press the "Print"-key.

After using the Backupper application also all other Windows applications have this problem. This disappears only after a Windows sign out or Windows restart.

For the text display bug, visible in this screenshot, see https://www.aomeitech.com/forum/discussion/5753/ui-bug-on-hidpi-screen/p1.

PE Builder 2 includes Backupper Server Trial not the Standard

Tried searching the forums for this problem but could not find anything.

I installed PE Builder on a fresh install of Windows 7 and performed Windows Updates to Jan 2019.  No other programs installed except AOMEI Backupper Standard 4.6.2 and AOMEI PE Builder 2.0.  Used AOMEI PE Builder 2.0 to create a bootable flash drive. Selected to download WinPE from the Internet, which was Windows 10 PE. After creating the flash drive and booting from it, tried to run Backupper that was included in the PE build but it indicated that it is a Server Trial and not the Standard (free) that is specified to be included. The Server Trail even indicates that the trial period has ended, meaning no hope to run it. This makes PE Builder useless for me as I don't need nor want the Server version of Backupper.

Is there a solution for this?

Prevent Sleep

Hi,

I have been searching the forum but cannot find an answer.  I have Backupper Pro.  Is there a way to prevent the computer from sleeping during a manual backup?  It seems that several years ago the answer was no.  However more recently there are posts say the feature was added.

Thanks

Unable to use any existing backup job after doing a system restore

$

The last two times after I needed to restore my system from a backup, I was unable to continue using any of my stored backup jobs. I got messages that the partitions do not exist or were changed. I was forced to create a new full system backup. Could someone please explain why this is happening. It never did in the past. I am running the latest version of Windows 10 64 bit and my Laptop is UEFI.

Does this mean that once I do a system restore, all my current backup jobs are obsolete? Does this mean that I can no longer do another restore from any of these backups?

Thank you.

Rescue Media - how to change KeyboardLayout?

$

Hallo.

We use AOMEI Backupper Technician Plus and want to create some bootable rescue media.
It worked on the first try, but unfortunately the rescue medium was not in the German user interface.
I could solve this problem by renaming the file "de.txt" in the folder "lang" to "en.txt".
I did this in the installation folder of AOMEI Backupper (% Programs% \ AOMEI Backupper \ lang),
and in the subfolder Winpe64 (% Programs% \ AOMEI Backupper \ Winpe64 \ lang).

But now there is another problem. We need the german keyboard layout.
However, if the rescue media has already been created, the keyboard layout can not be changed.

So how can I get the software to create a rescue medium with German keyboard layout?
In addition, the rescue medium should be suitable both for 64-bit systems, as well as for 32-bit systems.

For solutions I would be very grateful

Windows Event Log Entry for success or failure of backup

Does AOMEI Backup write to the windows event log? If so, where are the events located as I cannot find them?
If not, what file can I parse in order to obtain these results so that I can write to the windows event log myself in order to use my RMM to pick up the events and raise tickets for failures and success events on successful backups?

Reboots to blinking cursor

Pretty straight forward.
Current freeware version of AOMEI (seriously doing this for a friend to make sure he has a working backup)
Created a System Backup default settings with verification.
Restored System Backup default settings.
Everything went smoothly on the restore.
System boots to a blank screen with blinking cursor.

Windows 10 current version.
Booted with WinPE disk and can see the drives appear normally.

What am I missing.  It shouldn't be this hard.
Did I just toast my friends system?

Thanks

Problem recovering a single partition in Backupper Pro

According to the directions you select Restore, select a Point in Time, click Next. This shows the partitions backed up. Instructions say to select the one you want to restore and click Restore Now. My problem is none of the partitions can be selected. I really need this feature to restore my system. Any ideas on how to make this happen.
