Image deploy clients hang on "The system is booting"

$

I installed the free version of Image Deploy on a Windows 10 Pro 64bit desktop computer to try. The first system I PXE booted connected and I could push the image. The second computer I tried which has the same hardware specification as the first one PXE booted then hung on a screen that said "This computer has already been prepared for the connection from server" Local IP is blank, Sever IP: None and Connection status: None. I've tried changing the boot option to legacy only and switching off UEFI, updating BIOs, deleting the bartPE.iso file from the "server" then creating a new one, also tried uninstalled Image Deploy then reinstalling.

The system I'm trying to deploy the image to is a Dell Optiplex 3060 if that makes a difference. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thank you!

AOMEI PXE Boot Tool

hello,

I'm new here and I have some basic questions to understand how PXE Boot Tool is working: With AOMEI Backupper I'm storing backups of several client computers on my synology nas in the local network. The backups are entire harddrive-iamges.

I'm looking for a solution to restore a harddrive-disk of a client computer (using the harddrive-images on my NAS) by PXE Boot.

PXE Boot Tool cannot be installed on the nas...so I have to install it on the main server of our network.

Using WinPE with PXE Boot Tool on the server, is it possible to run AOMEI Backupper on WinPE to do disk restore ? Is it possible to choose disk-images on the nas to restore them anywhere in the network on client computers ???

Boot disk does not work.  Non UEFI mode just goes to command prompt and UEFI disk boots into windows recovery environment.  Linux usb boot freezes --no mouse or keyboard. What is happening here. I've had nothing but problems every time I use this software. Never had one problem with macariums software. Look like ill be going back, This is not what I paid for.

Backupper Standard creates empty folders

I have Windows 7 Professional. and I was using the AOMEI Backupper Standard 4.1 until I found a strange problem.
I deleted the backups, removed the backupper and installed v 4.6.0
After creating the initial full backup of the selected directories I observe the same bad behavior.
Utilities -> Advanced -> Explore Image
Select the backup and move on to Folders
Expand C: -> users -> michael -> Documents -> _personal
There are a bunch of folders on this level
Looking into these folders some have files which are correctly displayed on the right pane under the heading "Files"
Some other folders appear empty; no content is displayed on the right pane.

While creating the backup I did not use any filters, it's always "include sub-directories and all files"
The missing files can be different - image files, documents, etc.
I can access these files on the drive, and permissions don't seem to be anything special.

The folders and files under Documents are encrypted (Windows built-in feature available from the context menu),
but it may not be a factor since the majority of the folders display the correct contents.

This looks very bizarre, can anyone suggest what could have caused this?
Thanks.

Error 33 ramdomly since 4.6.1

I experienced error 33 while cloning via eSATA. Error comes randomly in 2 of 3 cloning attempts on two different systems. Both systems are Window 7 x64, one with Professional one with Ultimate. I've tried to clone HDDs as well as SSDs. Both checkdisk and HDDScan found no errors on the drives. Cloning worked well until upgrade to 4.6.1. Any solutions?

AOMEI cloned drive failed to boot but fixed by running "AOMEI boot repair"

Hi
I cloned a Windows 8.1 system using AOMEI Partition Assistant v6.6. It said it was successful but the cloned drive would not boot - "Your PC needs to be repaired - a required device is not connected or can't be accessed - error code: 0xc0000225"

My source disk is GPT formatted and is a Win 8.1 environment with 5 partitions. Partition assistant shows the target disk after cloning with all 5 partitions looking normal however the disk fails to boot with the above error message.

I ran the "AOMEI boot repair" which is included in the WinPE environment and that fixed the problem.... Target disk now boots.

My questions now are...

1. What is the boot repair tool doing?, and
2. Why can't the cloning function perform the equivalent repair as part of its cloning process?

Cheers
Lou.

Differential disk backup restoration with Linux boot media

I was trying to do a disk restore in the Linux boot environment.  The files do not display a date and time so there was no way to tell which was the full backup and which were differential backups.  When I tried restoring one of the backup files it turned out that it was a differential backup since it completed very quickly.  I'm not sure what actually got restored  - I didn't check.  I gave up trying to understand what the screens were telling me.  The disk being restored was my GPT Windows system disk, with its standard recovery, boot, etc. partitions.

Fortunately I had a full backup from the day before otherwise I would have been screwed.  I believe all of my data might have been lost!  The restore process must be clear and flawless so people don't lose everything.  Maybe a restore wizard for each restore scenario?  I don't know the answer.

I also think there needs to be a detailed tutorial written on the restore process for all restore schemes in both the Linux and Windows recovery environment.

Windows task scheduler incorrectly reports failed backups as succeeded

I use Windows task scheduler because it has capabilities that AOMEI's scheduler doesn't offer.  As the title says, Windows task scheduler incorrectly reports failed backups as being successful.  The only thing I can think of is that it is saying that Backupper correctly said the task failed in the log file, but not that the backup failed...

Information Code 4118 while cloning bitlocker encrypted SSD with Backupper v4.5.2 Standard

Thank you so much for providing this excellent free of charge software.
I have been using it for several years without any significant problems.

Recently the system SSD on my company notebook has been bitlocker encrypted.
Ever since then I can no longer clone it to an identical SSD neither over eSATA nor over USB3.

The cloning process seems to start but after a few seconds it terminates with this error message.
The error text says (translated from German): "not enough space for temporary files available"
I can't find any description of this error code on your website.

My SSD is 500GB with only 200GB used
There are 8GB of RAM available.
The notebook is running on Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 64Bit

I would be thankful for any suggestions to solve this problem.

Best regards from Germany
Jürgen

In response to a technical problem your support team sends back an email with a link to a ticket, e. g. https://aomeitech.freshdesk.com/helpdesk/tickets/12345

The link redirects to https://aomeitech.freshdesk.com/support/login saying "You must be logged in to access this page".

To be able to login, an account is required. But after filling out the form https://aomeitech.freshdesk.com/support/signup the page just says "Successfully registered", but neither a password can be set by the user nor an email is sent to the user.

server 2008 will not start after restore to dissimilar hardware

We have been trying to move an instance of server 2008 to new hardware...we have followed the steps in the documentation for AOMEI dissimilar hardware restore...seems to go fine...

We crate a system image on the old machine using AB installed on that server...
We then restore that image to the new server hardware using the boot disk created by AB  that includes our dell perc 5 drivers...making sure to tick the box for dissimilar hardware...
Everything seems to go well...it says it finished 100%

However the system will not boot after restore it is stuck it boot loop...windows try's to start but fails and tries again...

We have tried repairing the MBR and reimaging and all the other start up related advice we can find with not luck...

System Backup location?

$

I have a full system backup (Win10 OS on a SSD) scheduled task that runs every day at startup. Although I choose the destination path for backup to another HDD drive, I notice that my SSD's TBW (Total Bytes Written) keeps increasing every day with a similar amount as the system backup size. Does AOMEI system backup write its backup file first on my SSD before copying it to the destination path? How can I force it to not write onto my SSD when doing backup? Thanks.
