I can't install Windows To GO on my external SSD

$

I have a Lenovo laptop that unfortunately only came with a 32GB onboard NAND flash drive. It also has no SATA port on the motherboard so I have resorted to getting a 120gb Western Digital SSD drive and putting it into a USB3 external drive enclosure.

I have created a a single NTFS partition on the drive, formatted it and assigned a drive letter. I then tried to run the WTC Creator using my Windows.iso file created yesterday using the Microsoft Media Creation Tool. However, when I click Proceed, it tell me to install a USB drive and hit Refresh.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Any help would be appreciated.

China sourcing- Help Chinese industries will grow further

“As demand for rechargeable batteries grows, China sourcing companies have a responsibility to prove that they are not profiting from the misery of miners working in terrible conditions in the China sourcing,” said Seema Joshi, head of Chinese sourcing business and human rights at Amnesty. The tempered glass is generally preferred for tabletops, shelves and patio tables. The solar industry welcomed the move; firms are hoping problems associated with the sector are adequately addressed. The labor and human rights groups haven’t gone that far, but did state five demands of China custom manufacturing ltd as she arrived in Japan on Thursday morning. Some, such as China manufacturing sourcing, did considerably better than others. While that is a good thing for the environment and human health, it also has potential implications for Chinasourcing supply chains.

Converting Legacy BIOS to UEFI

I have a current Windows 10 operating system on a desktop computer.  I want to convert the Legacy BIOS to UEFI, using the new MBR2GPT.EXE tool from Microsoft.  My single HDD has two System Reserved partitions (for some unknown reason), one is shown as F: and the other *:  I also have a System partition (C:) and a Data partition (D:).  I would like to know if there is any way of converting the HDD from MBR to GBT without loss of any data and without having to do a clean install of Windows 10.  According to Microsoft, their utility cannot be used on a HDD that has more than three primary partitions or any logical partition.  Is there a way of doing the conversion without using the tool andf without loss of data?

File Sync: Does it Clone a Folder?

$

Hello, I have a question about the File Sync feature.  I'm not sure I understand it.

I did a test file sync of a folder.  The folder contained ten subfolders, and a dozen files.

I will refer to the original folder as the SOURCE folder.

The file sync did create a perfect duplicate of that folder and its contents.

I will refer to the synched folder as the DESTINATION folder.

After I did the file sync, I went into the source folder and created a new subfolder.  I put the dozen files in that new subfolder.

So, now, the source folder has 11 subfolders, with no loose files in it.

I did another sync. The sync added that new subfolder to the destination folder.

Here's the problem: It left the dozen files as they were. They were not deleted.  The destination folder now has eleven subfolders, plus the dozen files.

That is absolutely not what I want.  I thought a file sync clones the source folder, and makes an exact duplicate of it in the destination folder.  But it doesn't.  The file sync feature should have gotten rid of the twelve loose files.

Am I right or wrong about this?  If I sync a folder, isn't the synched folder supposed to be exactly like the original source folder?

If it does not, then this is why I prefer an incremental or differential backup.

Thank you!   J.Danniel

Restore more than 3 partitions from disk image

i am upgrading the SSD in my laptop. I did a disk backup before installing the new SSD. Now I want to restore, and I have discovered that the software will only restore 3 partitions at a time. I have 2 questions:

1. Does it matter what order I restore the partitions in?

2. If I buy the paid version, will it restore all the partitions at once?

Thanks!

I just restored a disk image of my 256g SSD to a new 1tb SSD. It worked great, except my C-drive is the same size as before, and the rest of the disk is un-allocated. Is there any way I can do the restore so that my C-drive uses all of the available space?

I have 3 partitions on my Asus tablet according to the Windows 8.1 disk manager. However, when I open the AOMEI program it only shows one partition with the total SSD disk space.  I want to delete/remove the 7.5 Gb partition that holds the system restoration files.  How can I do that if I can't see it and select it?

I used Partition Assistant Server Edition 6.5 on my Windows Server 2008 R2 virtual machine. I wanted to reallocate disk space from C: to the System Reserve. I applied the job, the application ran its course, but when it had completed and was rebooting the OS, the OS through an error and could not boot. It would then retry, and retry until i had to shut the server down completely. Fortnuately, the server is a virtual machine and i took a snapshot before running the re-allocation. Why did the error occur, and how do I make the re-allocation work?

system vs. disk backup

I know this has been discussed many times before, but I STILL can't figure out whether I should be using a disk or system backup on a regular basis. I want to be able to restore the entire system along with applications, files and settings, should anything go drastically wrong. I also want to be able to restore individual files if need be. Do I need to do both kinds?

hi,

Product:AOMEI Backupper standard
Version:4.0.6
Problem description:
I try to go to one of my backups by selecting : Home (vertical tab) , pointing to one of my backups, press advanced and select for example , edit backup.
It says: "NAS Connecting" and finally brings the "Edit Backup" screen with the original location in step 2 window,  which is no longer valid, since the ip address has changed.
There is no way to change the path to the new ip address.
What should i do in this case to fix the problem ?

Best regards,
Avi

The two errors logged for each scheduled backup task occur about 7 to 10 seconds apart.  One backup is a disk backup and the other is a system backup.  Both use the default (recommended) Vss configuration.

Can someone exand on what these errors are telling me, their severity, and what to do to correct the problem?

Last Run Result 0xC000012D logged in Windows Task Scheduler Library for scheduled backup task

OS: 64 bit Windows 10 Pro

Product: AOMEI Backupper Professional Edition 4.0.6

I use Windows task scheduler for managing my backups.  The backup task in question is a Disk Backup, scheduled to run Weekly as an differentialbackup scheme with Disk Space Management enabled, retaining the latest 4 versions.  The last backup (Operation Partition Full backup in detailed information) was a full backup that ran on 11/27/2017 and was successful.  There is no indication within the AMOEI logs that the 12/03/2017 scheduled task ran.  The logged result was 0xC000012D.  I don't know what that means or why the backup task failed to show anything in in the AOMEI logs and why it's next scheduled run time is 12/10/2017.

A screen shot of the Windows task library is attached.

I performed a system backup, replaced my flash drive with a larger drive, and performed a system restore. I wanted the C partition to be at the beginning of the disk, but for some reason it was placed at a highe location. I created a D drive for now, but I really just want one drive (just C). How can I fix this?

Error after failed Hard Drive clone

$

I was attempting to clone a Windows 7 hard drive today using Aomei Partition Assistant which I have used your products successfully in the past and have been mostly satisfied with the results.  I'm cloning a 500 GB drive to a 2 TB drive.  Aomei uses a Pre-OS environment to perform this from the machine.  Upon reboot the Pre-OS starts but then tells me the operation failed.

So I reboot again and get this:

"Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:

1. Insert your windows installation disc and restart.
2. Choose your language settings, and the click "Next."
3. Click "Repair your computer."

If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.

Status: 0xc000000f
Info: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible."

Oh Crap.

Here's the thing.. I can finally get past this after attempting the boot for the third time (hit enter, get the message again, hit enter and boot to Windows 7).  I've tried multiple times but the message will always be displayed the first 2 attempts at boot.   The third time it goes into Windows 7 normally.  Weird.

Currently I've got the hard drive removed from the machine to try another cloning method because I don't want to risk not being able to boot at all.  If this works, I'm still going to need to fix the boot issue.  Any ideas?
