File Backup takes extremely long

$
0
0

My last remaining problem with AOMEI Backuper PRO ist the "file backup" option. (Full Backup)

For the exact same folders on the exact same drives my self-written 7zip CLI is around 2-3 times faster than AOMEI Pro.

As I want to get rid of my self written scripts, I wanted to use professional solutions, so I bought AOMEI Backupper Pro.

How can this be fixed?

Backup is initializing...

Getting the file information...

Scanning the authority files... => takes a really long time

Trying to create snapshots...

Calculating the total number of the backup files... => takes a really long time

Only then, the actual backup starts.

Unable to create boot CD

$

Hello...

Really like the software, but....

I'm running Windows 8.1 on a Lenovo G710 laptop with its own DVD-Rewritable drive

All went well regarding creating system backup. image

However I wasn't able to create a bootable CD of Windows PE.

The Lenovo runs UEFI boot mode...

I ticked this and all went well till progress bar reached 99%...

The ISO image was showing as 'successful', but the process simply would not complete itself - even after a long wait!!image

Also, the DVD-Rewritable drive would not eject the disc!

So, I had to close down the Lenovo and 'eject' disc via Windows Explorer...

I'm guessing the 'lead-out' of the burning process somehow would not complete.

I normally use NERO for all my CD-burning but there was no option to select that...only Windows built-in burner..

After such a good start with AOMI Backupper, I'm now wondering if I can rely on it when it counts!image

Anyone have the same problem trying to create a bootable CD???

Any suggestions?

Many thanks

Exploring Image on NAS does not work

Dear Support-Team, dear all,

I just installed AOMEI Backupper Standard Edition 4.0.6 (German language) to test your product on a Win 7 PC. I would be happy to buy your tool, if I can get it to do what I need. I want to do my Backups to a NAS.

1) I was pleased with backing up the system and partitions to an ".afi" image on the NAS. (I still have to set up a test system to see if the recovery works properly with this configuration.) Only the File Backup ("Dateisicherung" in German) is quite slow as reported by some users - it takes a long time scanning "authority files", but I would still be happy to use your Backupper.

2) Unfortunately, I cannot explore the images. When choosing the option explore, by clicking on the drop-down menu attached to the image name in the home screen, Backupper is now successful in connecting to the NAS. (Somehow this did not work yesterday, but aborted with a timeout... just like the problem where the Backupper froze the first times when I tried to locate the directory for the backup on the NAS directly by browsing for a network drive instead of using the connect to NAS option...) Anyways, opening the image file from the NAS now seems to works. Also the image is mounted to a drive letter and the whole process is logged as being successful:

  "Ausführungszeit:    11.01.2018 22:35:14
  Name:    2018_01_10_Part_BKP_D
  Operation:    Image montieren                                                                    'mount image'
   Ausführungsergebnis:    Erfolgreich                                                           'successful'
   Fehlercode:    0                                                                                          'Error code: 0'
Beschreibung:    Der Vorgang wurde erfolgreich abgeschlossen."

However, I cannot open the mounted drive in the Windows Explorer:

image

A screen-shot of the same message (from the web) in English:

image

(Sorry, for further testing I will install Backupper with English language configuration...)

3) Also when opening the "Tools->Explore Image" tool, I do not see the drive letter (when clicking on "back"), so I cannot unmount the image anymore and the drive letter stays visible in the Windows Explorer.

My hunch feeling is, that this is related to my previous problems. These were always centered around the fact that I have to log on to my NAS with a username and password. (The NAS username and password are also not identical to my Windows login and password.) Previously, this had caused Backupper to hang when using the "wrong" way to navigate to locations on the NAS in order to create an image...

Any suggestions are welcome!

With best regards and many thanks,

Robert

I found the following:
- Image created under RS3 does not work on computer with RS3
- Image created under RS2 does not work on computer with RS3
- Image created under RS2 work on computrer with RS2

AOMEI PE Builder 2.0 is not supported for Windows 10 Redstone 3!

1. When user add apps into UserTools folder, they all can not be launched! Only text documents have ability for opening, but execution is forbidden!
2. When user launch the integrated browser and hit some url address, there is no internet connection!
3. I think the missing progress bar for copy/paste is related to the same problem.

So, why you did not warn the users on your website to prevent this solid trouble?
AOMEI PE Builder 2.0 is not valid program for all the computers with installed Win10 RS3!

Error Code:

Error description:

Not enough space in disk.

Or

Reserved space insufficient. Please reserve more free space into the current partition.

The error code indicates that you have no enough reserved space for the NTFS partition when you shrinking the NTFS partition. For example if you try to shrink an NTFS partition and lead to its free space is less than 200MB, you may get the error.

Solutions:

Please reserve more free space when shrink the target partition then the problem is gone.

Mysterious problem with Backupper

$

I am mystified by the results when I use Aomei Back Upper to clone a drive in Windows 10. I cloned a 760GB Western Digital system drive to a Sandisk Ultra 500GBSSD using the disk clone option, not the OS option. The original drive had 40% free and the cloning went smoothly leaving 10% free on the SSD. I tested the new drive two ways. I tried removing the original HDD before booting from thenew disc and I also tried keeping the original disc in place and using BIOS to select the SSD to boot from. Using both methods I can boot and Windows seems to work except that left clicking on the start menu doesn't work. (Right clicking on the start menu works as normal.) There is no such problem when I boot from the original drive.

The only clue I have found is that when I shut down (after booting from the cloned disk) I get the message "Task Host is stopping background tasks (\Microsoft\Windows\Plug and Play\Device Install Reboot Required)"

Before cloning I disabled hibernation and restore to reduce space and defragged (but Windows still wouldn't allow me to shrink the partition). That means the original partition is larger than the target drive. Aomei shouldn't have a problem with this.  I repeated the cloning in case it was a fluke but I got exactly the same outcome the second time.

Thanks for any ideas.

From Drive Manager after booting fromoriginal drive (ignoring irrelevant drives):

Disc 1 (the SSD)

Healthy (System, Boot, Page File,                               Healthy(Recovery Partition)

After booting from the new drive:

Partition Assistant Causes Win10 Repair Mode

Hello,

I used Partition Assistant to clone my laptop's 500GB drive to a 1TB drive. The cloning completed without any errors. However, when I put the 1TB drive into the laptop and started it up, the laptop went to a screen that said "Preparing Automatic Repair", then to  a screen that said "Diagnosing Your PC", and then to a screen that said "Automatic Repair couldn't repair your PC. Press 'Advanced Options' to try other options to repair your PC or 'Shut Down' to turn off your PC." This is Windows 10 with the most recent update.

Going to "Advanced Options" brings up three choices:

  • Continue - Exit and continue to Windows 10
  • Troubleshoot - Reset your PC or see advanced options
  • Turn off your PC

I tried Continue, and it just looped around to the "Diagnosing Your PC" screen.

Then I checked out the Advanced Options screen, and tried every option that didn't require a prior system image. None of them worked.

The bottom line is that the cloning process failed badly.

I am writing for suggestions on how to make a successful clone of the original hard drive. If I can be guaranteed that it will succeed, I would have no problem buying the Pro version of Partition Assistant.

Thanks.

When browsing to select a folder to be backupped, the opening window is cut at the bottom, see below. So far, I have not found a way to fully display the window. The problem may perhaps be related to my display settings (1920 x 1080 and scaled to 125%)? To change those however is not an option. I'm using Windows 10 home v.1703, x64.

Deleting Unnecessary Files on Backup Disk

$

I’m new to AOMEI and have two questions:

1.  I have a Seagate 2 terabyte external backup hard drive.  In the past I’ve used both Windows10 backup and Seagate Dashboard backup. I’ve decided to use AOMEI Backupper exclusively because of its ease of use and ability to create a full system image. My backup drive is ¾ full.  I want to delete subdirectories that are no longer used.  My understanding is that the Backupper files and system image are stored in subdirectory “System Backup(1).”  Would it be safe to delete all the other subdirectories on my backup drive?  The other subdirectories are named “FileHistory,” “OFFICEPC,” “Seagate Dashboard 2.0,” “Start-Here-Mac.app,” and “WindowsImageBackup.”

2.  The hard disk on my PC seems to be on its last legs, so I plan to purchase a new computer and transfer all my files and programs to it.  Will the free version of AOMEI Backupper allow me to accomplish this by importing the full system image onto the hard drive of my new computer or will I have to purchase AOMEI Backupper Professional to do this?  It is important that my existing programs in addition to my files get imported onto the new computer.

Thanks very much for your help.

Move windows 7 from a dual boot HDD to a new HDD and keep dual boot

I currently have one 500GB HDD partitioned as follows:

1 - Windows 7 100GB (reduced to fit on a 160GB HDD

2- Windows 10 on the the remaining partition.(default OS)

I have been given a new 160GB HD that I want to put Windows 7 on.

I actually want to 'MOVE' the current Windows 7 partition to the new 160HDD, and
still have a 'dual boot' system' with Windows 10 being the default
operating system.

There will be no problem making the 160HDD and 'unallocated' single
partition.

Can this be done using AOMEI Partition copy?

And still have a dual boot?  I already have EasyBCD if that helps

Eventually the 500GB HDD wil be re-partitioned to a WIndows 10 and a storage HDD

Hello,

I have just bought an external hard disk Western Digital My Cloud Home that seems to have 2 areas :

A public area : Access by \\MYCLOUD-XXXXXX\Public\

A private area : Access only by a browser and by a local drive x:\ mounted when i installed the driver of the cloud.

In the backupper, i have no problems when i place my backups or synchronize datas to the public share.

But backuper don't see the drive x:\ : when i select it, i have a message : Drive X:\ does not exist.

Is it a way to place dates on the private area of my cloud ?

Thanks in advance.

Hello, I am using AOME

I Backupper 4.0.6 on WIN 10 home 64bit.

I cannot restore a file backup created with AOEMI Backupper 4.0.4. The .afi files are located on an external USB drive.

From the "Restore" tab, I click on the "Path" button & select the 1st file of the backup from the USB drive.
then click "Open" & I can see the backup in the backup List. But when I select it & click on "next" I get an information box saying: "unable to get the backup information because the image file does not exists, or it cannot be accessed.
If the backup task has never been run, you need to execute the backup task firstly." See also attached image (screenshot).

I really need to restore this backup please help. Thank you
