Why is the backup much bigger than the files being backed up

Aomei Backerupper Pro, Win 10, Dell XPS

The backup file is 433 GB -- total space used in the disk being backed up is 229 GB.  Why??

And what is wrong with the functionality to add pictures to the post?  I am trying to share a screenshot.
